The Colorado Springs team at Raymond James recently added experienced financial advisors Janis Cross, Matthew West, CFP®, and A.J. Schultz.
Cross, West and Schultz join Raymond James from Morgan Stanley where they collectively managed over $144 million in client assets. They primarily serve individuals and families, especially military families, before and in retirement, as well as business owners and entrepreneurs. Cross, in particular serves a number of professional women in the Colorado Springs area.
“After considerable due diligence” said Schultz, “We determined that Raymond James was the best place for us to grow our business and take care of our clients. The back office support is genuine, and the size of the firm felt just right. Big enough to offer us and our clients all the resources we need and expect – whether technology, investment solutions or research – but small enough to not get bound up in red tape and bureaucracy.”
“The reason we come to work every day is to serve our clients,” added Cross. “And Raymond James’ client-first values and culture are thoroughly aligned with ours. So, while moving firms is no picnic, we know we’ve made the right choice.”
After spending 15 years in hospital administration in New York and Colorado, Cross began her financial services career with Morgan Stanley in 1997 in Colorado Springs. She has dual degrees from Quinnipiac University: an Associate of Science and a BS in Psychology, as well as an MBA from Long Island University. In addition, she has served on various non-profit boards, most recently as treasurer of Colorado Springs Philharmonic Guild.
West began his financial services career in 2001 with Citigroup/Smith Barney, becoming a financial advisor in 2004 and remaining with the firm after it was acquired by Morgan Stanley in 2009. He is a graduate of Connecticut College with a Bachelor’s degree in economics and is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional. West donates his time to youth sports through the Colorado Springs Youth Sports Complex.
Schultz began his career in wealth management in 2010 after earning his Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Colorado. An early internship program at Smith Barney eventually turned into a passion for helping individual investors and families navigate the ever-changing world of financial planning and investing.
