Winners are selected based on having a wine list with a sufficient selection of better producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. The City of Colorado Springs is seeking residents interested in serving on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the Airport Advisory Commission. Woodland Park, Springs receive Starburst Awards Woodland Park and Colorado Springs have received 2006 Colorado Lottery Starburst Community Awards. Woodland Park received lottery money from Great Outdoors Colorado and the Conservation Trust Fund to expand the Meadow Wood Sports Complex. The project won a regional Starburst Award for projects that cost between $300,000 and $1 million.

<h3>City gets silver </h3>The League of American Bicyclists has named Colorado Springs as a Silver Level “Bicycle Friendly Community.” Recipients of the award have established records of commitment to education, engineering, enforcement, encouragement and evaluation of bicycling programs. Six other Colorado municipalities also received recognition: Boulder (gold), Durango (silver), Fort Collins (silver), Steamboat Springs (silver), Denver, (bronze) and Longmont (bronze).
Midkiff chosen by chamber as Business Citizen of Year Joel Midkiff was chosen by the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce as Business Citizen of the Year during the organization’s annual banquet last week at the Broadmoor Events Center.
Radio station 104.5 KKCS’s Mother of Pearl promotion has been named the best in the nation among medium-sized markets by the Country Radio Broadcasters. <h3>Hydro power loan program </h3>The Colorado Water Resources and Power Development Authority has $10 million available to help governmental agencies with the installation of small hydropower units at their water facilities. The loans have a term of up to 20 years and an interest rate of 2 percent. The maximum amount is $2 million.
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis released the real gross domestic product in metropolitan areas in 2013. Collectively, real GDP for U.S. metropolitan areas increased 1.7 percent in 2013, after increasing 2.6 percent in 2012.
