The technical and management consulting company works mainly with the U.S. Department of Defense, but also provides operation, acquisition and analytical support for private aerospace, government and first responders.
The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved a record $6 billion in low-interest, taxpayer-backed disaster loans to homeowners, renters and businesses affected by last year’s Gulf Coast hurricanes. More than 86,200 victims have been approved for the loans. More than 70,100 loans totaling $4.6 billion have been approved for homeowners and more than 16,100 loans totaling $1.4 billion have been approved for businesses.
The Board of Governors of the U.S. Postal Service has approved an increase of most postal rates and fees by about 5.4 percent. The increases are needed to fulfill the requirements of a law passed in 2003 that requires the Postal Service to establish a $3.1 billion escrow account. The cost of a first-class stamp will increase from 37 cent to 39 cents on Jan. 8. The postcard rate will increase by one cent to 24 cents.
Colorado Springs School District 11 has won the Facilities Masters Award from the Association of School Business Officials International for excellence in the preparation and issuance of the fiscal year 2005-06 school system facilities operations plan. District 11 is the only Colorado winner for 2006.

The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis released the real gross domestic product in metropolitan areas in 2013. Collectively, real GDP for U.S. metropolitan areas increased 1.7 percent in 2013, after increasing 2.6 percent in 2012. The current-dollar GDP in Colorado Springs has taken a slight dip this past year, according to figures by the BEA. […]
<h3>Winter weather closes park reservoirs and lakes </h3>Sub-freezing temperatures and ice brought on by winter weather have closed lakes and reservoirs to boating at most Colorado State Parks. The gates to the boat ramps will be locked and no additional vessels will be able to enter the water. The closure will apply to all vessels, including trailered boats and hand-carried boat such as rafts, kayaks, canoes and other personal watercraft.
<h3>Colorado Lottery wins advertising awards </h3>The Colorado Lottery has received several advertising awards from the National Association of State and Provincial Lotteries. The Silver Celebration Spadea won a Hickey Award for Print Advertising: Print Ad — Color. The television advertisement called “Game On” for the lottery’s Colorado Millionaire scratch game won a Batchy Award for Television Advertising: Use of Cinematography.
The Colorado chapter of the Business Marketing Association is seeking nominations for the 2006 Gold Key awards, an annual event that recognizes business-to-business marketing communications. There are 47 categories, and entrants do not need to be members of BMA to participate. Entries will be judged on creativity, production/execution, selling proposition and results.
