Dolan Media Company said March 15 it had acquired the Colorado Springs Daily Transcript from the Bernheim family, owners of the Pioneer Printing & Publishing Co.

The Daily Transcript is a 95-year-old business-oriented court and commercial newspaper. It is an official newspaper of the City of Colorado Springs.

The announcement was made jointly by James P. Dolan, president and chief executive of Dolan Media, and John Bernheim, president of Pioneer Printing & Publishing Co. Purchase price and terms were not disclosed.

“The Daily Transcript is an important addition to our company,” Dolan said. “We are very happy to increase our commitment to and investment in the vibrant business communities of Colorado Springs and Pueblo.“

“We have been happy to have been of service to the business and legal community for the past century,” said Bernheim, “and we extend our best wishes to the Dolan enterprises for the continued success of the Daily Transcript.”

Dolan said operations of the Daily Transcript would be merged with Dolan Media’s Colorado Springs Business Journal and Pueblo Business Journal. Daily newspaper operations will move to business journal offices at 31 E. Platte Ave. in downtown Colorado Springs, and the Daily Transcript will remain a five-day-a-week daily newspaper.

Bob Lombardi, who now runs both of the business journals, will also become publisher of the Daily Transcript, Dolan said.

With this transaction, the Bernheim family has sold its only business publication. The Bernheim family also owns Gowdy Printcraft Press, Inc., printers and publishers of military newspapers, custom printing and custom publishing.
