College/University/Trade school

  1. UCCS

In 2017, the winner in the Business Journal’s Best College or University category was UCCS. In 2018, the winner was UCCS. This year, the little university that could completed the hat trick.

“This campus has experienced tremendous growth. I call it aggressive growth,” Chancellor Venkat Reddy recently told the Business Journal, describing happenings on campus. “When I started here, there were 5,000 students. Today we are at 12,600. It’s the real deal at this point. When you have a significant number of students, then you can start controlling your own destiny. So I’m beginning to plan for the next 10 years.”

Reddy has plenty of resources to draw from, including more than 800 faculty and more than 800 staff members. And students from more than 80 nations attend classes on campus.

“The experience our students gain at UCCS provides an incredible service to our community of Colorado Springs and the greater southern Colorado region as a whole, with UCCS contributing about $600 million each year in economic impact in El Paso County alone,” the UCCS website states.

Private School

  1. The Colorado Springs School

The welcome from the head of school at Colorado Springs School nicely summarizes why parents would want to send their children to what was voted the Best Private School in Colorado Springs.

“…CSS graduates are prepared to live rewarding and purposeful lives, while also having the self-confidence and integrity to lead,” Aaron Schubach writes.

“The Colorado Springs School creates a community that focuses on the whole child,” said Anslee Wolfe, communications and marketing manager. “Small class sizes mean teachers connect one-on-one with students. We incorporate the Yale RULER Program, where students cultivate social and emotional skills that help them develop into healthy adults. And our students learn by doing. They immerse in hands-on activities both in the classroom and beyond through outdoor adventures and seminars, which may be local or across the globe. … We prepare students to meet the challenges of a dynamic world.”
