Patrons of downtown Pueblo can soon enjoy a stroll through Gateway Park to check out the new Pueblo Convention Center Expansion.
The $31 million project is expected to be completed this spring, according to the Downtown Pueblo Association website.
It includes a new 449-space public parking garage, a 17,500-square-foot exhibition hall, the Professional Bull Riders Sports Performance Center and an 83-foot-tall landmark tower, in addition to a smaller attached building that will house the Bull Riders Fan Zone and the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce visitor center.
“Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase PBR merchandise and receive guidance about tourism activities available in Pueblo,” a February newsletter from the Downtown Pueblo Association said.
Additionally, the $2.7 million Gateway Plaza Project will be completed by the end of summer.
“The plaza is designed to create a welcoming point of access to the Riverwalk,” the city of Pueblo’s website states. “The project will increase and support economic development opportunities and the continued endeavor for downtown revitalization.”
