Sears will close its last stores in Colorado Springs and Pueblo in late March 2019, and the accompanying Sears Auto Centers in late January.
A total of 80 Sears and Kmart stores will be closing nationwide.
Sears Holdings made the announcement in a company statement Dec. 28, saying the closures are part of the company’s efforts to “accelerate its strategic transformation and facilitate its financial restructuring.”
The Sears stores affected in Colorado are at 2050 Southgate Road and 1650 Briargate Boulevard in Colorado Springs, and 3201 Dillon Drive in Pueblo.
The 80 planned closures are “in addition to the previously announced closure of 40 unprofitable stores expected to be completed in February 2019”, according to the statement.
