A new 30,000-square-foot sports entertainment venue in Colorado Springs is set to open in June and is partnering with a local organization to fill its more than 40 available positions.
WhirlyBall (located at 3971 Palmer Park Boulevard) is set to open next month and is teaming up with the Colorado Springs-based Pikes Peak Workforce Center to host a job fair 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, May 22 at the organization’s headquarters at 1675 W. Garden of the Gods Road, according to a recent news release.
Among the more than 40 positions WhirlyBall is looking to fill are those for bartenders, bussers, runners, servers, referees, cashiers and floor team members, according to the release. Following the job fair, the company will continue to accept applications until the end of May.
“As we gear up for our Grand Opening, we anticipate 40 new job positions will be available during the months of April and May,” Adam Elias, the company’s vice president of strategic planning, said in the release. “From management and sales to the kitchen and front of house, we’re looking forward to bringing new opportunities to the area in a fun and one- of-a-kind work environment.”
The game of WhirlyBall is like a mix of lacrosse, hockey, basketball and bumper cars, according to the release. The first WhirlyBall location was opened by company owner Sam Elias more than 20 years ago in Illinois, where he now has three locations. The Colorado Springs facility will be the company’s first in the state and is slated to feature two WhirlyBall courts, a dining area, 12 lanes of bowling and a full-service bar.
“We are thrilled to bring WhirlyBall to the Colorado market and couldn’t think of a better city to launch into than Colorado Springs,” said owner of WhirlyBall, Sam Elias. “The city’s active lifestyle, young professional population and growing culinary and craft beer scene make it a great fit.”
