The luncheon will be open to registered attendees and the general public, and will consist of leaders in the field discussing the role of women in space exploration.
“The Space Foundation is committed to encouraging women to pursue careers in aerospace,” said Kevin Cook, the Space Foundation’s vice president of marketing and communications. “While the numbers are increasing, more can be done to bring attention to the matter and the WGG will help achieve this important goal.”
Panelists will include General Ellen M. Pawliko, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base; Maureen Ryan O’Brien, manager of strategic alliances in the communications office at NASA; and Becky Yoder, chief executive officer of Surrey Satellite Technology, US LLC.
“In addition to the excellent lineup of speakers and panel discussion, it will allow anyone interested in furthering the goal of increasing the number of women engaged in aerospace to participate in the effort,” Cook said.
The Space Foundation has participated in similar events encouraging the next generation of women to pursue careers in the industry, such as at this year’s Global Women’s Forum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Cook said.
“We are looking forward to this new event and know that it will serve to increase the reach, appeal and success of the Space Foundation and our annual Space Symposium,” he said.
