When Tony Clement was 9, his dad drove their family across the wide prairie from Illinois to launch the real estate firm RE/MAX Properties Inc. in Colorado Springs. Fast-forward three decades and the business now has 185 agents, four locations and two owners, Tony and his dad, Joe.
Joe Clement nominated his son for the Rising Star award because of Tony’s personality and business acumen.
“He’s just got one of those caring personalities that buyers and sellers love, and so do the agents,” Joe Clement said.
Tony Clement grew up on the city’s west side, graduating from Cheyenne Mountain High School and then went to Colorado State University in Fort Collins. There, he graduated with a degree in exercise and sports science.
After college, Tony Clement earned his real estate license.
“It’s been a great experience for me to not only learn from him but also have him as a mentor and coach,” Tony Clement said.
The younger Clement said he started “from the ground up … doing the grunt work, putting up signs, doing the filing, inputting listings into the Multiple Listings Service. Then I started working with buyers and sellers.”
In 2008, Joe Clement promoted his son to managing broker of the Chapel Hills office, which had 120 agents at the time. “He’s really earned it.”
That job involves “a lot of troubleshooting, putting out fires,” Tony Clement said. “It’s great to work with a great group of people.”
In July, Tony Clement became co-owner.
“It only took 16 years,” he said.
Tony Clement is raising three children with his wife Brooke. She also works at RE/MAX.
“I love raising a family here. I love the proximity of the mountains. We take our kids skiing and in the summertime, we take our kids camping. I cherish what we have here in Colorado Springs,” he said.
Tony Clement said RE/MAX Properties has sold more residential real estate in Colorado Springs than any other brokerage firm every year since 1989. The firm has offices in southern Colorado Springs, downtown, Chapel Hills and Monument.
