For the first time, the number of businesses registered and in good standing with the Colorado Secretary of State broke 600,000, according to a press release from the office.
The actual number of businesses was 600,270, which the office’s Business and Licensing Division hit earlier this week. Two years ago, businesses in good standing hit 521,795 as of Oct. 31. At this same time last year, the division recorded 557,815 entities. Businesses retain their good standing by filing the appropriate paperwork with the division.
“I’m excited to witness Colorado’s entrepreneurial spirit,” said Secretary of State Wayne Williams in the press release. “We’re happy to help people achieve their dreams. And to do that we are continually looking at common-sense solutions to improve the experience that businesses have with this office.”
The latest improvement was implemented earlier this month. In addition to certificates of good standing, businesses can now download online certificates for either single or multiple documents, trade name certificates and certificates of existence. All online certificates are free.
Since these new options were added on Oct. 20, an average of 500 certificates have been downloaded per day.
