Colorado Springs is the top city in the nation for first-time homebuyers, according to WalletHub, an online source for people seeking financial information.

WalletHub considered housing affordability, real estate market and the living environment, and then compiled a list of 18 “relevant metrics.” Those include median household income, cost of housing, sale-to-list-price ratio, violent crime and property crime rates, home energy costs, average home square footage and jobs availability.

Smaller cities in the Denver metro area, based on population, also made the best cities for first-time homebuyers list. They are, along with their placement: Centennial, 2; Longmont, 7; Thornton, 8; and Arvada, 10.
