image009Whether you travel to Denver or to one of the local military bases, vanpools can be a smart choice for commuters who live and work near each other. The city’s Mountain Metro Rides group is accepting applications for its vanpool program. The van, insurance, fuel, maintenance and an emergency ride home are all included. Sign up at by filling out an online application. Vanpoolers share the ride and pay a low monthly fare for a minivan that seats six passengers; or a full-size van that seats 10 passengers. Vanpool fares range from $100 to $275 per person, per month, depending on the distance traveled. Some commuters may be eligible for commuter benefits that further reduce their costs or even allow them to commute for free. Visit the Commuter Benefits web page for more information.

Mountain Metropolitan Transit provides local fixed-route bus service and Mountain Metro Mobility ADA Paratransit service for Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region. All buses are wheelchair-lift equipped. Mountain Metropolitan Transit also provides other services such as Mountain Metro Rides’ ridesharing, vanpool and bicycling programs. For added convenience, there are bike racks on all buses for riders who want to utilize the bike-n-bus program.
