Discover Goodwill expands retail operations to Monument


Discover Goodwill of Southern and Western Colorado will cut the ribbon Saturday, Jan. 24, to commemorate the opening of its newest retail center, located at 15821 Jackson Creek Parkway in Monument, east of the Wal-Mart Supercenter. The 9:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting will include addresses by Discover Goodwill President and CEO Karla Grazier, El Pomar Foundation Vice President Peter Maiurro, Tri-Lakes Chamber Executive Director Terri Hayes and Monument Mayor Rafael Dominguez.

Other attendees will include Discover Goodwill’s leadership, business and community partners and lead supporters. The grand opening celebration will continue until 6 p.m. The celebration including free refreshments, prize drawings, giveaways and children’s entertainment.

The 23,522-square-foot Monument store will offer clothing, housewares, furniture, appliances, sporting goods, collectibles and more. The Monument store has a drive-through donation center to receive clothing, housewares and other tax-deductible items. Additional features include a “Deja Blu” boutique featuring clothing, shoes and accessories; a complimentary, in-store coffee bar serving Discover Goodwill’s special blend; and a Community Programs Center offering career development services, workforce experience, senior services and Low-Income Energy Assistance support.

The new location will employ 50 residents staffing the retail and donation operations. Nearly 90 percent of all proceeds from donations and sales at the Monument retail center will be reinvested in community-based programs and services supporting individuals with disadvantages.
