The Colorado Health Information Management Systems Society, a cause-based, global nonprofit dedicated to health information technology (IT) thought leadership, education, events, market research and promotion, is taking applications for a scholarship that will be awarded to a student of health IT this year.
The society is committed to supporting the professional development of health care IT professionals in Colorado, according to a news release, and offers scholarships to professionals pursuing a career in health care IT and those looking to expand training in the field.
The applicant must live in Colorado and must complete an application and provide two letters of reference from academic faculty and/or health care IT professionals now working in the industry, college transcripts (if applicable) and an essay on how the applicant will use a health care IT education to impact the field.
Applicants can apply for scholarships in the following areas:
- Academic scholarship: CHIMSS scholarship awarded to students pursuing an advanced degree (masters or doctoral) in the field of health care IT, health care informatics, biomedical informatics and related fields.
• Award: up to $1,500 and complimentary registration fee for two CHIMSS programs.
- Training scholarship: CHIMSS scholarship awarded to qualified professionals pursuing advanced training or certification related to health care IT, health informatics, biomedical informatics and related fields.
• Award: up to $1,000 and complimentary registration fee for two CHIMSS programs.
Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Feb. 28. Awardees will be announced at the CHIMSS Spring 2015 meeting in mid-March, and will be honored at the CHIMSS March 2015 event (location, date and time to be announced).
