Discover Goodwill of Southern and Western Colorado plans to host a ceremony Dec. 13 to celebrate the opening of its newest retail center in northern Colorado Springs.
The ribbon-cutting will serve as the grand opening for the new Goodwill store at 4158 Austin Bluffs Parkway at 9:45 that morning, according to a news release. The event will include brief addresses by Goodwill President and CEO Karla Grazier, El Pomar Foundation Vice President Peter Maiurro and Walmart Manager Gary Peacock, the release said.
The grand opening will include a day of “refreshments, prize giveaways and a special appearance by Santa,” according to the release.
The 28,500 square-foot store also includes a drop-off center and a “Threads” boutique department aimed at showcasing Goodwill’s more fashionable offerings, as well as a coffee bar and book nook for customers.
The retail store will employ around 50 people, and nearly 90 percent of its proceeds will be “reinvested in community-based programs and services supporting individuals with disadvantages,” the release said.
