Thursday, at the Breakfast with the Mayor event at the Antlers Hilton, The Downtown Partnership gave Downtown Star awards to two people and one club for having made commitments to a thriving downtown.
Darsey Nicklasson, owner of DHN Planning and Development, received the Individual Downtown Star award. She and her partner Kathy Loo broke ground in September on Blue Dot Place, a 33-unit apartment complex on South Nevada Avenue.
Matt Mayberry, executive director of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum received the Civil Servant Downtown Star award. Mayberry has increased private donations to the museum. Mayberry is in his 20th year of service at the museum.
Jack Quinn’s Running Club received the 2014 Downtown Star award for an organization or business. With more than 20,000 members, the club brings around 1,200 people downtown every Tuesday.
