UCCS ranks high nationally in engineering, nursing


Online graduate programs in business, engineering and nursing at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs are among the best in the nation, according to the editors of U.S. News and World Report.

“Online education provides a valuable alternative to individuals seeking career advancement while often balancing work and family responsibilities,” Venkat Reddy, assistant vice chancellor, Online Education, and dean, College of Business, said. “The same quality for which UCCS is known is available anytime, anywhere.”

The UCCS online graduate degree program in engineering was ranked 40 nationally. Other universities with similar rankings included the University of Alabama, Birmingham (39) and Florida International University (41).

The UCCS online graduate degree program in nursing was ranked 52 nationally and tied with Arizona State University, Chamberlain (Ill.) College of Nursing, and Troy (Ala.) University.

The UCCS online graduate degree program in business ranked 82 nationally and tied with Andrews (Mich.) University, Colorado State University-Global, Fayetteville (N.C.) State University, and Western (N.C.) Carolina University.

The editors used factors such as student engagement, admission selectivity, reputation, faculty credentials, student services and technology in developing rankings of top programs in the nation. Complete rankings and an explanation of ranking methodologies are available at www.usnews.com/online.

In November, U.S. News ranked UCCS as a top school for veterans, placing the university 13 among public and private universities in the Western United States.

In August, U.S. News ranked UCCS as a top 10 Western regional public university and its College of Engineering and Applied Science a national leader in undergraduate engineering education.
