Manitou Springs is seeking to recover after recent floods from the Waldo Canyon burn scar left businesses and residents digging out from mud and dealing with water damage.

The community has established the Manitou Emergency and Recovery Fund through the Pikes Peak Community Foundation to support emergency relief, as well as short-term and long-term recovery efforts.

Money raised will be used to benefit nonprofits and other agencies providing support to residents and businesses affected by flooding, as well as provide money for recovery efforts and infrastructure improvements.

An advisory committee of Manitou residents and community leaders will oversee distribution of the funds. Advisers are Nancy Bramwell, Aimee Cox, Rev. Dave Hunting, Natalie Johnson, Marcy Morrison, Dan Stuart and John Weiss.

Donations to the fund can be made to PPCF at 730 N. Nevada Ave. or at the Business of Art center at 513 Manitou Ave.
