Leading local, national and global cyber security experts will gather in Colorado Springs to discuss the threats to local and national cyber security.

Western Cyber Exchange will host the meeting from 4:45 to 8 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Mining Exchange Hotel.

“This event is very important for the community and our state,” said Doug DePeppe, WCX member and owner of i2IS Cyberspace Solutions. “We are excited to be among the top two regional programs in the country to address cyber security issues.”

At the quarterly update and dinner, WCX will provide a progress report on its efforts to collaborate with the Advanced Cyber Security Center in Boston. The two organizations have teamed up to increase local and national resilience to threats from cyber attacks.

Bruce Bakis, principal cyber security engineer with the MITRE Corp., will be the featured speaker. The quarterly update and dinner will include multiple informational sessions led by cyber security strategists, business leaders and IT professionals.

Business and community leaders from Colorado Springs and Colorado, as well as city, county and state government representatives are expected to attend. Military personnel posted along the Front Range, representatives from federal agencies, and others interested in improving the region’s cyber security resilience efforts will also participate.
