The Colorado Springs Gazette is reporting that it has been purchased by the Anschutz Corp.

It is the daily newspaper’s second purchase in just under six months.

Philip Anschutz also owns The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Cog Railway in Manitou Springs.

Anschutz named Ryan McKibben, CEO of Clarity Media Group , as chairman of The Gazette. He will retain Dan Steever as president and publisher. Joe Hight was named editor of the publication on Friday, according to press reports at the Gazette.

The Gazette was purchased by 2100 Trust in July when the investment group purchased Freedom Communications.  The second-largest newspaper in the state, The Gazette was part of Freedom for about 66 years. It was founded in 1872.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
