Jon Khoury is the new CEO of The Cottonwood Center of the Arts.
He’s replacing Sandy Murphy, who held the position for less than two years. Murphy plans to devote her time to jewelry, artwork and family.
Khoury is a 1984 graduate in English of Colorado College, is an arts promoter, fundraiser, special events planner and marketer in the New York area during the past 16 years.
He’s worked as director of marketing for Peak Entertainment, where he grew their bsuienss from $400,000 to $5.8 million planning special events and representing artists.
Most recently, he contracted with Atria on the Hudson to create a curriculum for growth in older adults in an Engage Life Program.
He said he is looking forward to moving back to the Springs.
“Colorado Springs is a place that has only grown in my heart since leaving,” he said. “Coming back for me is like coming home again.”
He’ll start at Cottonwood the first week of August.
During her tenure, Murphy helped Cottonwood reach out the community, grow its occupancy, develop classes and increased fundraising. She introduced a clay studio and is completing an outdoor kiln. Her last day is Aug. 8.
