Mayor Steve Bach will host his first town hall meeting to discuss his vision for downtown Colorado Springs and upcoming downtown events and festivals tonight.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Carnegie Reading Room at the Penrose Public Library at 20 N. Cascade Ave.

The mayor’s chief of economic development, Steve Cox, will start the meeting off, said city senior communications specialist John Leavitt. Those attending will be able to submit questions and comments on note cards that staff will read.

Members of the Mayor’s Downtown Solution’s Team led by Chuck Murphy, who owns Murphy Constructors, will answer questions and respond to comments along with the mayor.

While the discussion will begin with general visions and goals for downtown development, the meeting will also focus on some of the major upcoming events that will take place downtown, including the USA Pro-Cycling Challenge, the Pikes Peak Hill Climb festival and the opening ceremony for the summer Olympics.

“People will have a chance to hear what is going on downtown and ask questions,” Leavitt said.
