A Jefferson County District Court has permanently barred Sherron L. Lewis from providing foreclosure-relief services and fine him $181,266 after he failed to respond to a Colorado lawsuit about illegal foreclosure activities.

Lewis is accused of charging homeowners an upfront fee and obtained an interest in their homes with the promise he could stop their foreclosures, both of which are violations of Colorado law.

The complaint alleges that after accepting his fees, Lewis would help consumers file legal challenges to the foreclosures, but judges repeatedly dismissed those challenges as being without merit, said Colorado Attorney General John Suthers.
