State auditors say that the database of people permitted to have concealed weapons in Colorado is unreliable.

Auditors briefed state lawmakers on the problems Tuesday. They examined database records and found thousands with inaccurate expiration dates, duplicate and inconsistent information.

Lawmakers on the audit committee said that despite the flaws, the statewide database still provides valuable information for police.

Lawmakers plan to review the program when the full Legislature convenes next year to determine whether to continue the program.
