Operation 6035 leaders are coordinating an effort to attract a University of Colorado School of Medicine branch campus to Colorado Springs.

This is the first project announced by Operation 6035, which was launched last year in response to analysis from consulting firm Angelou Economics about how to stimulate the city’s economy and makeover its image.

Representatives from Operation 6035 and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs have been talks with the dean of the School of Medicine, which is in Denver, and will be performing a feasibility study soon.

The group will also begin assembling a community board to consider the matter.

Operatoin 6035 executive director Phil Lane promised this to be the first of many projects that will contribute to the “renaissance of Colorado Springs.”
