Colorado Springs Utilities is holding a series of workshops for contractors and businesses interested in working on the Southern Delivery System project.

Workshops on the water project – which will bring water from the Pueblo Reservoir into Colorado Springs – will be held in El Paso, Pueblo and Fremont Counties. The El Paso County workshop is scheduled for May 6 at 3:30 p.m.

Construction work on phase one of the project will begin this year, and continue through 2016. Costs are estimated at $550 million, including about $160 for labor. CSU expects about 380 workers on the project, with a peak employment of 700 workers in 2014.

The project will require a number of contractors from carpenters to welders.
