Registration for the 2010 Rocky Mountain State Games, scheduled for July 30 – Aug. 1, has opened, and a calendar of 2010 amateur athletic events has been released.

The event will once again be hosted in Colorado Springs by the Sports Corp.  More than 8,000 people are expected to participate, said Colorado Springs Sports Corp. spokesman Mike Moran.

New competition categories this year include rugby, lacrosse, modern pentathlon, BMX mountain biking and rock climbing.

  • July 12-17: USA Boxing National Championships, Venues: Olympic Training Center and Championship Night at Crowne Plaza
  • July 30-Aug. 1: 2010 Rocky Mountain State Games
  • Sept. 23-25: U.S. Olympic Assembly, Venue: Antlers Hilton Hotel
  • Oct. 27:  Colorado Springs Sports Hall Of Fame Banquet & Induction Ceremony, Venue: World Arena
  • Nov. 19-20: USA Karate National Intercollegiate & Junior Invitational Championship, Venue: U.S. Olympic Training Center
