The report comes from traffic-data firm Imtrix, and shows the Springs ranked at the same level last year. Denver ranked 16th last year.
The city with the most congested traffic? Los Angeles.
Other cities that rounded out the top 10 are:
- New York
- Dallas-Fort Worth
- San Francisco-Oakland
Traffic congestion nationwide had improved somewhat during the spring but has since started to worsen due to signs of economic recovery, initial rollouts of highway construction projects funded by federal stimulus packages and lower fuel prices, the study said.
The ranking is based on Inrix’s analysis of speed data from GPS-equipped “probe vehicles” using freeways and other controlled-access routes. The probe vehicles include taxis, airport shuttles and service delivery vans and trucks.
