Four El Paso County projects are being considered for water and wastewater improvement efforts paid for by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The $60 million in projects are scheduled to start construction by the end of September – but not all of the 87 proposals on the list will receive money. Only about 30 projects will ultimately get the green light.

Projects in Manitou Springs, Colorado Springs and Monument made the list.

Colorado will receive $34.4 million in drinking water money and $31.2 million in wastewater improvement dollars.

The projects will help utilities build treatment facilities and replace pipes. At least 600 jobs are expected to be created as a result of the stimulus money.

The list of  drinking water projects can be found here, and the list of wastewater projects is here.
