A forum to discuss tax measures on the April 7 ballot is scheduled for 11 a.m. today in the Carnegie Room of the Penrose Public Library at 20 N. Cascade Ave.
The Gazette and KOAA-TV are sponsoring the forum.
News reporters from both organizations will ask questions of the supporters and opponents of the measures.
Tax questions on the ballot include:
· Question 1A: should a property tax that’s scheduled to expire be extended so an estimated $3.2 million can be used to promote new jobs.
· Question 1B: should the city be able to keep up to $1.2 million that’s scheduled to be returned to taxpayers so it can be used for “essential city services.”
· Question 1C: should the city increase the tax amount allowed to be used for its Trails, Open Space and Parks maintenance from 6 percent to 15 percent for five years.
· Question 1D: should the definition city “enterprise” be changed to allow agencies such as the airport to take federal grants without the money counting toward a limit for enterprises.
