The Department of Health Care Policy and Financing is conducting audits of state hospitals to recoup Medicaid money that was paid as the result of overcharges, fraud and unnecessary medical services, but hospitals aren’t happy about having to dig through six years of records to comply. Memorial Health System was asked to return $150,000. An appeal resulted in the amount being reduced to $100,000.
