Futurist Ed Barlow made a stop in Colorado Springs on Oct. 12 to talk with the business community about preparing the Pikes Peak area for a 21st century economy and strategies for creating wealth. Barlow said he had a “tough love” message for Springs business leaders, whom he said need to be more creative in their economical approach to the future. Colorado Springs’ Economic Vitality Group and the Colorado Office of Workforce Development sponsored the event. Barlow is president and founder of Creating the Future Inc. and has held executive positions in health care, business and higher education. He has frequently been called on by the U.S. Congress to offer insight about work force development, transportation, travel and tourism. He speaks to business audiences about 120 times a year.
