<B>By LAUREY LUMMUS</B> <FONT SIZE=-1><I>Staff Reporter</I></FONT><p>American Technical Resources Inc., a McLean, Va.-based provider of information technology support services, has been acquired by Atlanta-based Norrell Corporation, which is one of the nation’s top staffing and outsourcing services.<p>The transaction was a stock switch, with no cash changing hands. Other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.<p>ATR, with a local office at 5575 Tech Center Drive, will maintain its name, and no employees will be in danger of losing their jobs.<p>ATR was founded in 1985, becoming a client-driven IT staffing solutions company that specializes in computer professionals who participate in both short- and long-term assignments. Currently, the company employs more than 700 professionals, with more than 100 in the Springs branch office. Another ATR branch office is located in Atlanta. Revenue for 1996 is estimated to be $38 to $40 million, showing an increase of 25% over last year.<p>ATR provides contract programming, contract recruiting, and patrolling services to commercial clients. Its local clients include MCI, Federal Express, Western Pacific, and Omnipoint.<p>Norrell president and CEO C. Douglas Miller stated the company acquired ATR to expand Norrell’s range of services, by significantly broadening the company’s information technology services. Miller added ATR’s management team would continue with the company.<p>Kathryn Valtin, local ATR branch manager, stated the acquisition will allow ATR to expand.<p>"This acquisition will mean tremendous growth and expansion," said Valtin. "As Norrell continues to expand, so will ATR."<p>Larry Bryan, executive vice president of Norrell, said the decision to do business with ATR was due to their expertise in information staffing technology.<p>"ATR’s management philosophies, investment in technology and quality assurance processes have positioned the company as a preferred one with which to do business with," said Bryan.<p>The Norrell Corporation has a network of 377 company-owned franchised and outsourcing locations. <p>Norrell reported revenues of $813 million for fiscal year 1995.<p>Another ATR branch office is located in Atlanta.
