Library offering business, investment classes

The Pikes Peak Library District is offering the following programs in July:

  • Minding Your Business: Learn about business resources available by attending a free tour at 8:30 a.m. July 13 at the Penrose branch.
  • Investment Tools at your Library: Learn how to research company information and how to follow company or mutual fund performance. Sources will include Value Line and Morningstar, subscription databases on the library’s Web site, and other Internet sites.

The class begins at 8:30 a.m. July 30 at the Penrose branch.

State Historical Fund offering preservation, grant workshops

The State Historical Fund is hosting free workshops throughout Colorado about identifying cultural resources, historic preservation and applying for grants.

The workshop in Colorado Springs is scheduled for 11 a.m. July 28 at the Carnegie Library, 20 N. Cascade Ave.

The fund, a program of the Colorado Historical Society, awards grants to public and non-profit organizations to preserve Colorado’s architectural and archaeological treasures.

Third annual CARE Fair slated for July 30

The Junior League of Colorado Springs is hosting the third annual CARE Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30 at Peak Vista Community Health Centers Family Health Clinic, 2840 International Circle.

The health fair is for uninsured or underinsured school-aged children.

The event will provide free immunizations, back-to-school physicals, dental, hearing, diabetes and vision screenings. In addition, free haircuts will be offered.

Last year, 264 children and their families received services.

The Junior League hopes to double the number of recipients this year.
