“The Economics of Domestic Violence” — Drawing on her own research, Colorado College President Jill Tiefenthaler will present a talk on the economics of domestic violence at 7 p.m. Gaylord Hall, main floor of Worner Campus Center, 902 N. Cascade Ave.

The Economics of Sin

The Colorado College economics and business department is hosting speaker Jessica Holms at 4 p.m. in Palmer Hall, room 121. Holms will speak on, “The Economics of Sin: Tales from the Underground.” She is an associate professor of economics at Middlebury College and teaches courses in microeconomics, statistics, public finance, health economics, the economics of social issues and the economics of sin. She has worked as a litigation consultant conducting economic analyses for companies facing lawsuits involving securities fraud, product liability and intellectual property.

Women’s Living Expo

A weekend of 200 exhibits, runway fashion shows, makeovers, health screenings, cooking demos and tastings, book signings, moms’ pavilion, zumba classes and welcoming special guests: Public Television Chef Christy Rost and Michael Muhney who plays Adam Newman on the “Young and the Restless.” Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 15 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Colorado Springs Expo Center, 3650 N. Nevada Avenue. Tickets are $5.

Diversity and Inclusion Awards Luncheon

The Colorado Springs Diversity Forum 2011 Diversity and Inclusion Awards Luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Cheyenne Mountain Resort, 3225 Broadmoor Valley Road. The Diversity and Inclusion Awards are given to businesses and organizations in the Pikes Peak Region that demonstrate and promote diversity and inclusion in both their internal operations and external civic engagement.

Conflict resolution conference

The Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado will host the sixth annual Conflict Resolution Month Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Nikola Tesla Education Opportunity Center, 2560 International Circle. Experts, professionals and agencies specializing in resolving conflict will introduce community members to conflict resolution techniques and share success stories. Keynote speaker is County Court Judge Regina Walter of the Fourth Judicial District. Pre-registration is required; cost is $25 and includes lunch.
