Executive director leaves mining museum

After more than six years, David Carroll will be leaving the Western Museum of Mining and Industry.

Carroll accepted a position as executive director for the Albany Institute of History and Art.

He is credited with “adopting a fresh business strategy that has resulted in double-digit increases in both visitors and donors,” said board president Jeff Campbell. He also expanded the museum’s educational programs from school tours to life-long learning opportunities for both families and seniors.

The Western Museum of Mining and Industry is a private, nonprofit museum founded in 1970. It’s located at 225 North Gate Blvd in northern Colorado Springs.
