Contractor to start pilot snowplowing program

Now all they need is snow. Landscape Assist/Sod Tech has official approval for snow removal coverage for the northern part of Colorado Springs.

The company will plow streets from Old Ranch Road north to Northgate Boulevard, with an east boundary of Highway 83, Shoup Road and Howells Road and a west boundary of I-25.

The contract has a value not to exceed $250,000 and extends through April 30. The contractor will provide all management, tools, supplies, materials, equipment and labor necessary to complete the project. Payments will be made only for services actually required.

The city’s Streets Division will receive complaints and send them to the contractor, while an independent third party will be hired to make sure comparable levels of service are being achieved among adjoining grids with similar weather patterns.

The contract is part of a pilot program to determine how to best manage snow plowing in the winter months, and could result in more contracts in other parts of the city.
