Movies didn’t attract large audiences in 2011

The audience for U.S. movies dropped to a 16-year low in 2011, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Year-end figures show that the revenue from ticket sales dropped 3 percent last year to $10.2 billion.

About 1.28 billion people went to the movies last year, about a 4 percent drop from 2010.
