A 1950s-style candy store is slated to open in the former Johannes Hunter Jewelers location downtown next month.
Beni Levi, who owns My Candy at The Citadel mall, hopes to have another candy store, The Candy Bar, up and running at 124 N. Tejon St. by July 4.
“I wish I could do it before then,” he said. “But it’s a lot of work.”
The Candy Bar will sell popcorn, natural candies, stuffed animals and small gift items.
The space has been empty since January when Johannes Hunter left the spot, where it had been for 23 years, and moved to University Village shopping center on north Nevada Avenue.
The Candy Bar is one of several stores opening downtown this summer.
